School Law Boot Camp for School Administrators –Day One: Student Rights (Wednesday Only Registration)

Description:

Today’s school leaders work in a dynamic, fast-paced school law environment. Each day brings new changes in statute, code and case law. Administrators, whether veteran or new, are challenged to keep up with the changes. In this intensive School Law workshop participants will review current legal standards on Student Rights.

The Student Rights module will focus on student rights and responsibilities, including constitutional rights such as freedom of speech, disciplinary actions, HIB, social media, 24/7 rule, student athletic contracts, and transgender rights, among other topics. We will go back to the basics and move forward to review relevant school law cases. This interactive workshop will include a mock disciplinary incident where we will walk you through the disciplinary incident up to a board hearing. We will apply the law, review the legal standards and discuss proper investigation documentation.

Registration includes morning refreshments and lunch.

This is a two-day School Law Boot Camp. If you are registering for this workshop you are registering for Day One: Student Rights on Wednesday, July 12th.

The workshop will be presented by Mr. William S. Donio, Esq., Cooper Levenson and Ms. Amy L. Elco, Esq., Cooper Levenson
