3D printing is more than just buzz. It’s a transformative technology that’s reshaping design, architecture and engineering. Prepare your students for careers in fields being transformed by 3D printing. In this class participants will gain an understanding of 3D printers by putting modeling into action. Participants will gain exposure to the main facets of 3D Printing including 3D Scanning, 3D Modeling, preparing the file for print, and finally, 3D Printing. The Basics: How does a 3D-printer work? What are the different types of printers and materials you can use? What can I print with a 3D-printer? Is it expensive to use a 3D Printer? and other FAQs.
-Participants will gain a working knowledge of 3D Scanning for reverse engineering as well as 3D designing your own simple 3D object from scratch
-Participants will learn to initialize and set up the Makerbot 3D Printer with basic settings
-Introduce your Elementary and Middle school classrooms to 3D printing! Even if you don’t yet have a printer, your students can develop the design mindset by creating 3D objects that can be sent to a printer at another location. Kids will learn to solve problems through physical prototyping in an early stage of their development.
